It's official! Liverpool have finished 2008 at the top of the league table for the first time since I started watching football!

Really, who would have imagined the greatest pretenders the Barclays Premier League has to offer (being honest here) to be sitting 4 points adrift of the chasing pack? What's more, Liverpool ended the year with an emphatic 5-1 away win at Newcastle. Ok, so it's just Newcastle, but 5-1 away is a respectable score nonetheless, especially when you can afford not to be with your two main strikers and star left midfielder.

So yeah. I'm happy. Liverpool will probably lose it come April (knowing them), but at least we've sounded off a message to the rest of the league that The Reds are finally a force to be reckoned with!
